PRIVACY & DATA CONTROLS
Privacy Notice
Tend is built to remember your home without turning your home into an advertising profile. This notice explains what we handle, why, and how you can control it.
1. Scope
This notice applies to Tend's United States websites, mobile applications, account workspace, subscribed calendar, support channels, and related services (the “Services”). Third-party services such as Apple, Google, calendar providers, and linked websites have their own privacy practices.
Tend is intended for adults in the United States and is not directed to children under 13. You must be at least 18, or the age of legal majority where you live, to create an account.
2. Information we handle
| Category | Examples | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Account information | Email, name, account identifier, verification status | Create, verify, secure, and support an account |
| Home profile | Home name, location you enter, climate, construction details, and selected systems | Personalize a maintenance plan and organize the workspace |
| Home care content | Assets, appliances, labels, model and serial numbers, maintenance tasks, completion history, and notes | Provide the home record, care plan, and reminders you request |
| Uploaded records | Photos, receipts, manuals, warranties, PDFs, filenames, and record metadata | Store and display records you choose to save |
| Calendar information | Calendar name, task names and dates, private feed identifier | Provide an updating calendar subscription you enable |
| Support and feedback | Your message, account email, and the screen from which it was sent | Respond, troubleshoot, and improve Tend |
| Subscription information | Plan, status, purchase date, and transaction reference supplied by an app store or payment provider | Provide paid features, prevent fraud, and keep required financial records |
| Technical and security data | Request time, route, status, request ID, app version, generalized device information, and high-level error type | Operate, protect, debug, and prevent abuse of the Services |
Passwords and verification codes
Passwords and verification or recovery codes travel over encrypted connections to our authentication provider. Tend's application database does not store your password. Supported mobile apps store session credentials in protected device credential storage; the web app uses browser session storage.
Location and device permissions
Tend currently uses location text you enter rather than precise GPS location. If you allow notifications, your device schedules and delivers local reminders. Tend does not currently upload contacts or use advertising identifiers.
3. Guest mode
Guest information stays in storage controlled by your device or browser unless you choose to create an account and migrate it. Tend cannot sync, recover, or remotely delete guest-only information. It may be lost if you uninstall the app, clear site or app storage, lose the device, or move to another device.
4. Cookies, browser storage, and analytics
Tend does not currently use advertising cookies, cross-site tracking pixels, or a third-party website analytics service. The web app uses browser session storage to keep you signed in during the current browser session and local storage to remember guest information and an enabled calendar subscription. These technologies are used to provide features you request, not to build an advertising profile.
Your browser lets you clear or block site storage. Blocking required storage may prevent sign-in, guest mode, or calendar features from working. Our domain registrar or infrastructure providers may use strictly necessary security or routing technologies when they deliver the site. We will update this notice and provide any legally required choices before enabling nonessential analytics, advertising, or similar tracking.
5. How we use information
- Provide, personalize, secure, and support the Services you request.
- Authenticate accounts, sync data, store records, and recover account access.
- Generate maintenance suggestions from details you choose to provide.
- Schedule reminders and maintain calendar subscriptions you enable.
- Send verification, security, support, and material service messages.
- Diagnose errors, prevent abuse, comply with law, and establish or defend legal claims.
- Improve Tend using feedback and information that has been aggregated or de-identified.
6. When information is disclosed
We disclose information only to service providers working for Tend; at your direction; when reasonably necessary for law, safety, security, or legal claims; or as part of a protected financing, merger, acquisition, reorganization, bankruptcy, or asset sale. Our principal cloud and authentication provider is Amazon Web Services. Google Workspace delivers messages sent to our support inbox. Apple and Google may separately handle app distribution, purchases, calendars, or device information under their own notices.
When you use in-app feedback while signed in, Tend stores the message with your account email and the screen you were viewing, then sends a copy to our support inbox so we can read and respond to it.
Private calendar links
An updating Tend calendar uses a long, unguessable link. Anyone who obtains it can read the task names and dates in that feed. Keep it private and revoke it in Tend if it is exposed. Revocation cannot erase event copies already retained by a calendar application or another person.
7. Retention and deletion
We keep information only as long as reasonably needed for the purposes above, unless law, security, dispute resolution, or a narrow legal hold requires longer. Our standard schedule is:
| Information | Standard period |
|---|---|
| Guest information | On your device or browser until you delete it, clear storage, migrate it, or uninstall the app |
| Active account and workspace | While active and until you delete content or the account |
| Deleted account, record, file, or active calendar feed | Removed from active systems immediately or normally within 24 hours; residual encrypted backup copies, if present, expire within 30 days |
| Support and feedback | The account-linked in-app record is removed with account deletion. Copies delivered to our support inbox and related correspondence are kept for up to 24 months after submission or closure, unless deleted sooner or needed for a documented legal or security matter. |
| Routine application and security logs | 90 days |
| Verified security or abuse incident records | Up to seven years when reasonably necessary to document and defend the incident |
| Subscription, transaction, tax, and accounting records | Up to seven years or the period law requires |
| Privacy and deletion request receipt | 24 months after completion, limited to request and completion details rather than deleted home content |
We do not restore deleted information from backup for ordinary use. If disaster recovery requires a restoration, deletion markers must be reapplied before the system returns to normal operation. Lawfully de-identified information may remain when it can no longer reasonably identify you.
8. Your choices and privacy rights
All account holders can view and edit account and home information, export the structured workspace, delete individual records, revoke a calendar feed, and permanently delete the account and associated cloud data. Depending on where you live, law may also provide rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of information and to appeal a denied request.
To submit a privacy request, use Tend's signed-in feedback control with the subject “Privacy Request” or contact info@tendyourhouse.com. We may verify control of the account and may deny or limit a request where law permits. Tend will not discriminate against you for exercising a privacy right.
9. Security
Safeguards include encrypted network connections, encrypted cloud storage, private file buckets, account-scoped authorization, short-lived access tokens, and protected mobile credential storage. No storage or transmission method is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Use a strong unique password, protect your devices and calendar link, and report suspected unauthorized access promptly.
10. United States processing
Tend is based in the United States, and information may be processed and stored in the United States. We will add required disclosures and safeguards before offering the Services in another country.
11. Changes to this notice
We may update this notice as Tend changes. We will post the revision with a new effective date and provide additional notice or request consent when law requires it.
